A board-certified veterinary specialist has completed years of advanced residency training and passed rigorous examinations administered by a recognised veterinary specialty college, such as the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). The credential DACVS (Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons) is the gold standard in veterinary orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery.
