I've been taking my 3 dogs here for over a year, and I can confidently say after trying so many other vets that Dr Schafer and her team are the absolute best. She's excellent at making sure the trip to the vet is a positive experience for the dogs every time by always offering them treats and cheese for each visit, as well as giving top tier medical advice. She's able to answer all the puppy questions I have about my two 4 month old pups as well as how they interact with my 6 year old dog. All of the vet techs and receptionists are amazingly warm, helpful and make my dogs get excited every time they visit.

honestly, it was a waste of time and money, drove all the way out there for an appointment that ran 45 minutes late without any apology. then they kept pushing this really expensive test we definitly didnt need, it felt like they were trying to upsell instead of just helping my dog. staff seemed annoyed when i asked a question, like i was bothering them, just not a place i would go back to.

After an exhaustive search for a clinic with Feline VMA certification, I found University Pet Hospital and Dr. Laura Fosbender—and I’m still grateful I did. I run a small cat rescue, and with that comes the ongoing challenge of managing complex feline health conditions, often on a very limited budget. Over the years, I’ve worked with many veterinary offices, and it’s rare to find a team that truly partners with you in your pet’s care. Dr. Laura has been instrumental in helping me manage my 17-year-old cat’s chronic kidney disease. She respects my experience, listens without judgment, and has never made me feel dismissed. Instead, she’s empowered me to provide advanced care at home. The vet techs have been equally supportive—teaching me how to administer subcutaneous fluids, helping me source supplies, and historically being very responsive with medication refills. The staff and medical team are genuinely compassionate, and I want to be clear that my experience with them as people and professionals has been positive. That’s important to say. However, I’ve had to adjust my rating due to a recent change in their medication policy. The clinic no longer accepts prescription requests directly from services like Chewy and instead requires medications to be filled in-house or handled through fax requests. For those of us managing chronic conditions—especially in rescue situations where costs add up quickly—this creates an additional financial burden and reduces flexibility in sourcing affordable medication. While I understand that clinics have to make business decisions, this shift feels like part of a broader trend that makes it harder for long-term pet caregivers to manage ongoing care in a sustainable way. I still appreciate the staff, the vets, and their willingness to work with me—including continuing to fax prescriptions when needed—but this change has had a real impact on how manageable care is on my end. My dog was wounded. I got an appointment that morning. Vet tech was kind and gentle. Doctor cleaned and examined her wound. She was thorough and caring. I saw 4 other dogs come in that morning. People and animals were all calm, unafraid. The best experience I've had at a veterinarian. Doggy is back to her old self in 12 hours. This is my new vet!
