I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt I should share it. The technician I worked with was difficult to communicate with and showed little patience. My dog previously lived in China, and I only knew the name of his allergy medication in Chinese. Rather than giving me a moment to translate it, the technician simply left it off the record — meaning his current medication isn’t accurately documented. I also felt talked down to for not knowing certain medical terminology. As a pet owner, I need to understand what’s being done to my dog in order to give informed consent, and I expected the staff to walk me through it. To be fair, the doctor himself was professional and easy to talk to — the issue was specifically with this technician. On top of that, I’d come in specifically for the first-visit discount, and I had to remind them twice before it was actually applied — I was nearly charged full price. Between the communication issues, the incomplete medical records, and the billing mix-up, I won’t be returning and can’t recommend this clinic.

I brought my puppy to a different emergency vet at first and it was chaos and not the place to bring your sick furr baby! I decided to leave that vet and came to Berkeley Dog & Cat hospital instead! My experience here was exceptional!!! The waiting room was peaceful and calm, the receptionist was compassionate, and the veterinarian was so kind and straight forward!!! No fluff, no BS, no anxiety! I highly recommend this wonderful team for your pets needs.

Brought my cat in because of a high fever. They kept her over night doing $4500 worth of tests and she got discharged the following day without knowing the cause. My cat was still acting weird. Within an hour of getting home, when going to take her temperature, we realized she had a ruptured anal grand. It’s unclear how after taking her temperature every 2 hours they did not notice it. They seem very understaffed and were taking care of a lot of pets at once. It's unfortunate that my cat had to go through the additional stress of all the tests and that it was so expensive. $4500 for a ruptured anal gland that got cured later by hot compress is crazy. We brought her to another clinic the following day and they said it was a large rupture. Front desk and staff was kind, but they seem too understaffed to give pets adequate care.

I brought my dog to this pet hospital after I found her lethargic, almost unresponsive, and stiff last Sunday late evening. I’m very thankful for the care she received. From the moment we arrived, the team responded quickly and took care of her right away. It reminded me of a real emergency hospital for people with how they triage patients. The staff are highly skilled, well-trained, and very professional. My dog had to be admitted, and what I really appreciated most was their promptness & communication. They told me they would call at a certain time to give an update, and they did. The doctors and staff were kind, professional, and clearly experienced in handling emergencies. They explained the treatment and made sure I understood what was happening. Thanks to their prompt care and attention, our baby girl, Akachan, has fully recovered now.

We are so incredibly grateful to the entire team at this hospital for the care they gave our 4-year-old cat, Porkchop, when he needed emergency services. From the moment we arrived, everyone was kind, compassionate, and genuinely supportive during what was a very stressful time for us. They took the time to answer every question we had whenever concerns came up, and their updates were efficient and reassuring. We especially appreciated how they communicated—straightforward and matter-of-fact about his progress and what it meant, without causing unnecessary worry. It made a difficult situation much easier to navigate. We’re happy to say that Porkchop is now back home and doing well. The home care instructions they provided were clear and concise, which gave us confidence as we transitioned him back home and continued his recovery. My husband and I truly appreciate everything they did for Porkchop. Every single person we interacted with was absolutely lovely and took such good care of him. We felt confident he was in the best hands possible. Thank you all for your professionalism, empathy, and dedication. We couldn’t be more thankful.
