From the moment of my first call with BARC, to the last appointment, they made such a difficult time so much better. Everyone who works there speaks to you with such compassion, and you can tell they all care about you and your animal. From the vets to the front desk, I always felt listened to and respected. Even with my darling kitty Wally’s passing, they made sure to check in with me to see how I was doing. They sent me a hand written card, and even a memorial stone for him. Through such a hard time in anyone’s life… our pets are our family. At BARC, you and your pet are also family. Sending all my love, gratitude, and thanks to the BARC team. I cannot recommend this place enough. Finding out your dog has cancer is scary, but everyone at BARC helped take the fear and “what ifs” out of the process. The entire staff is amazing. They take great care of my dog Eleanor.

I only visited BARC twice for our sweet boy during his lymphoma battle. Each time, we were treated with compassion & respect. The vets were great at explaining our complicated options clearly. I never felt rushed to make a decision (nor judged for ultimately choosing palliative care over chemo). A week or so after our dog passed, we received a surprise package in the mail - BARC sent us a custom memorial stone for our dog, Henderson (made by a local Olympia, WA company!). It was so unexpected & touching. While I hope to never need their services again, if I have another dog in need of cancer care I know who I'll call first! Thank you, BARC staff.

When a tumor was found in my beloved dog, I exhaustively researched options and selected Bridge Animal Referral Center (BARC) for cancer testing and tumor surgery. I regret this decision deeply, and feel tremendous guilt over the suffering it caused my dog. Long story short, the surgery immediately went wrong and BARC did not operate on the tumor; instead, they had to do surgery on his throat to save him, as it was explained to me. Then they sent me home with pain medication in pill form, which my dog could clearly not take because he could barely swallow, and would not replace or refund it. I had also paid BARC hundreds of dollars for a BRAF cancer test, which came back inconclusive; BARC would not re-run the test (so that we could have usable test results) unless I paid them hundreds more. I asked for a simple post-surgery appointment to help figure out what to do, and I was offered a $100+ meeting with a cancer specialist. I was just trying to help my dog survive the surgery that went wrong in their care at that point. Ultimately, I had to find another vet, travel there, and pay the second vet over $500 for an emergency appointment and the liquid-form medication within a day or two of the BARC surgery-gone-wrong. In the end, I paid thousands upon thousands of dollars to BARC, and I feel that we were left high and dry, and in worse condition than how we started. They seem great if things go right, but if things go wrong, I would hate for others to end up in a situation like mine.

The best vet we have ever been to, and we have been to a lot! We are so lucky to have this world-class facility in the greater Seattle area. The doctors, nurses, and staff are all compassionate and highly capable. Having a beloved pet with cancer is incredibly scary but knowing they're in the expert hands at BARC truly makes it easier. ❤️
