Vet Playas is beyond worth the drive from Los Angeles. It's significantly cheaper than any vet in the LA area—and their quality of care is the same, if not better. The last time I went, I stayed for two nights while my older dog had molars extracted. And accounting for travel costs (gas, parking, Ubers, Airbnb), pre-op blood panel, two anesthetic extractions, and post-op medication(s), I still saved hundreds of dollars... which allowed me to pick up extra bottles of his (very) expensive heart meds. The area near the clinic is super walkable, has two fantastic coffee spots on the same block, and really great food options right around the corner. Also there's a Costco across the street, if you want further cost-savings on meds! Most Americans I've met there drive across the border, but that can take forever, so I park in SD, walk my dogs across the street (literally) to the San Ysidro border crossing, then Uber to Playas de Tijuana. I keep their medical records on me for border agents, but I've never been asked to show them. And for what it's worth, my Spanish is terrible (I'm working on it!), but their English is fantastic, and they take the time to explain everything—at every step of the process—and always answer any questions or concerns I have with such patience and care. And on our last trip, their office was decked out in Halloween decor, which I only mention because it was cute as hell. TL;DR: Vet Playas is the best. I recommend them to everyone I know, and I'll keep going there as long as they're around! :)

Vet Playas took care of our sweet puppy so well! We travelled from Sonoma County down to Tijuana and we would do it again in a heartbeat. We called and got an emergency appointment within days and texted with the staff throughout. The staff updated us all weekend while our dogs broken leg was getting surgery and we even received photos every day, 3 days, while he was there. His leg healed up well. A few weeks after, the follow up X-ray was already included in our cost. I am familiar with USA vet prices and this place is 110% affordable. I can not recommend this hospital enough.

All the staff are excellent ! I bring my mother 12 or more years old cat Leah with respiratory and heart problems And the doctors did everything on their hands to get her better.. unfortunately she didn’t make it and now she’s with my mom ! I give all the staff 5 stars

We brought our ten year old dog to vet playas for a splenectomy because our primary vet found a mass. We brought her in on a Friday afternoon and after some diagnostic testing they started her surgery that evening. Our dog stayed for two nights. Upon pick up, the vet took the time to explain everything to us and help us understand all the medications she needed after the surgery. I am so happy with my experience with vet playas. They were honest, professional, and so caring for our sweet girl. They answered messages late at night and early in the morning. I will definitely be going back for future veterinary needs, especially any surgeries or advanced care. I can’t recommend this place enough. They provided life saving care for our dog.
