Dr. Garcia has been caring for our very sick rescue dog, Misty, through one of the most critical and frightening medical journeys we’ve ever faced. Quite honestly, we truly believe that without Dr. Garcia’s expertise, persistence, and deep compassion, Misty would not be alive today. Dr. Garcia goes above and beyond — not only in her medical knowledge and attention to detail, but in the way she communicates, advocates, and genuinely cares. I can’t thank this team enough 🤍 Freddie’s vet referred us here when my male cat had a blockage, and from the moment I arrived I felt so welcomed and cared for. The front staff — Victoria, Ana, and Alexis — were incredibly kind and gave my cat so much love. Miri was so supportive and understanding of my financial situation, which meant more than I can say. I’ve had dogs for over 20 years, and I have never met a veterinarian quite like Dr. Proulx. His compassion is unmatched. From the moment we walked in, the entire environment felt warm and welcoming, and it was immediately clear that he genuinely cares about his patients and wants them to receive the very best care. Before finding CVS Carlsbad, I tried getting into multiple specialty hospitals in Orange County, and it was nearly impossible. Everything felt like a money grab—even just trying to get a call back was a struggle. CVS Carlsbad took us in immediately, without hesitation, and I will forever be grateful for that. We drove from Orange County to Carlsbad for Fiona’s treatment, and I wouldn’t have gone anywhere else. When we arrived, Dr. Proulx came into the room, sat on the floor with Fiona, and talked with us for as long as we needed—even though he was double-booked. Not once did he make us feel rushed. He took his time to understand our concerns, answered every single question with patience, and helped us choose a treatment plan that was truly in Fiona’s best interest. He explained the risks, the options, and what to expect with complete honesty and empathy. I cannot express how impressed I was by the level of care he and his team showed our sweet Fee. Fiona underwent five days of radiation treatment for a heart-based tumor, and on her last day, the entire oncology team came out to celebrate her with a cake and a little graduation cap. It was the sweetest gesture during an incredibly stressful time. I’m happy to say the treatment appears to be working, and Fiona is recovering well. We are truly in debt to Dr. Proulx and his phenomenal team. I also have to mention that everyone at this hospital seems to genuinely care about every animal who walks through their doors. It’s the little details—fresh-baked cookies, tissues, comforting touches—that make such a difference. Even though they deal with the hardest cases every day, they maintain an atmosphere that feels safe, warm, and compassionate. I’ve watched them take immediate action whenever an emergency comes in, and it’s both refreshing and reassuring to witness. I highly, highly recommend Dr. Proulx and the entire team at California Veterinary Specialists, especially if you’re facing the difficult journey of oncology treatment. It’s an expensive and emotionally heavy situation, but this team does everything they can to make it supportive and humane. We are beyond grateful for the incredible care they provided to Fiona.

There aren’t enough stars in the sky to rate the VCA in Carlsbad. It is an incredible organization of amazingly talented Drs and nurses, who treat all of the animals (and the families that come with them), with not only extraordinary medical expertise; but with sincere care and compassion. Our six year old shepherd just went through radiation treatments for a tumor on her heart and we brought her home today with absolutely no side effects from the treatment, and a prognosis as good as it can be at this point. Everyone at this VCA truly understands what the families of every animal in their care is going through and they were all so kind and compassionate. Our sincere thank you to everyone who treated and cared for sweet Jessie. We know she won’t be too upset when she goes back for her checkups…..💕🐾🐾🐾💕

Sadly had to say goodbye to the bestest girl after 15yrs. VCA was exceptional over the past several weeks as visits were urgent and often at all hours of the day and night. Each time, the docs and team met us with that rare blend of competence, empathy, and kindness that took the edge off and ultimately bought us a little extra time with our baby that we were so grateful to have. I hope you never have to visit, but if you’ve got something urgent, they’re the ones to go to. ❤️🐶
