Neuro Vet was fantastic to work with after our cat, Lily, had a recent seizure. We brought our young five-year-old cat to The Neuro Vet since Dr. Erik Johnson came highly recommended in the Bay Area for veterinary neurology (and my husband is a specialty vet too, ACVIM). After she experienced a sudden seizure, I can’t say enough good things about the care she and we received. From the moment we arrived, the entire team was calm, compassionate, and incredibly professional. We were heartbroken that our dear cat was having these sudden seizures, and Dr. Johnson explained everything clearly. They quickly scheduled an MRI and a spinal tap to get to the root of the problem. The staff treated our cat gently and kept us updated throughout the process, which really eased our stress during a scary time, especially for me, a non-vet professional, as I am a social worker. The facility is very clean, new, organized, and clearly equipped with the top-of-the-line advanced diagnostic tools. They even have a red light thingy in the recovery room for the pets (advanced stuff). Their office takes Trupanion as well for payment, which is a great pet insurance company for doing direct pay when authorized. Their prices are extremely competitive for the area. Thankfully, our cat Lily is now recovering well, and we have answers for peace of mind. Which is worth it. I truly believe their prompt actions made all the difference. I highly recommend The Neuro Vet to anyone facing a neurological emergency with their pet — their expertise and compassion are unmatched.

Dr. Johnson was incredibly compassionate and caring while treating our dog for a brain tumor. We were especially impressed with his communication, he consistently went out of his way to answer questions and address concerns, even outside normal hours. The staff at the Pleasant Hill office were always friendly and professional. Although the practice is fairly new, the team is clearly very experienced in neurological care for pets. We’re very grateful for the support we received and highly recommend this practice.

Highly Recommend: Neurovet - Clarity and Compassion for Our Dog Hugo When our dog, Hugo, started showing signs of a potential spine or hip issue, we were immediately worried and overwhelmed. We chose to see Dr. Johnson and his team at Neurovet to quickly assess the situation and rule out the most serious risks. The experience was truly exceptional. What stood out first was their accessibility and dedication. We had a barrage of questions before the visit to decide if we should even come in, and the team was incredibly patient and thorough in their answers, helping us make an informed choice. When we arrived, they saw us with almost zero wait time. The entire team—from the nurses to Dr. Johnson—was fantastic. They were immensely patient, actively listening to all of our concerns before clearly explaining every diagnostic step. Hugo received an X-ray right then and there, which was critical in confirming the preliminary diagnosis. We are deeply grateful for Dr. Johnson's sensible approach. Instead of rushing straight into complex and costly procedures like an MRI or surgery, he gave us a concrete, three-week treatment plan.
