They are great! There were some new employees/Dr so things didn't go as smoothly as possible, but overall I give them 5 stars because they are much more affordable than Central San Diego, I was in the back with my kitty at the scheduled time and saw the Veterinarian within a few minutes thereafter. It was a 30 minute drive for me, but well worth the drive. I highly recommend this animal hospital!! My kitty got seen the same day I called - Friday. They offered me a surgery date as quickly as that Monday!

I adopted my cat at Helen Woodward. She gets health care and vaccinations there as well. The staff is always very polite and efficient. Highly recommended !

A no kill animal shelter along with pet hospital. Going on vacation and can't take your pet? Their Club Pet will care for your pet at a reasonable price. Critter camp for kids before covid is excellent. One of a number of places to adopt a pet. Their dog surf contest on September is really special! Here are some photos of nearby Del Mar Beach where the dogs hit the surf! A must see event!

There is a very noticeable difference between pre-covid Helen Woodward vets and pricing. They used to have reasonable prices, now very expensive. The older experienced vets are gone and less experienced vets are all that is available. Still above average but not nearly like it was.

We’ve been taking our dogs to this vet for 5–6 years, but today was the last straw. I went in to pick up flea meds, and the girl at the front desk refused to give it to me because she said the dogs need to be seen at least once a year. Our dogs were literally seen by their vet in December—just 6 months ago. She kept saying, “Well, that was in 2024, now it’s 2025,” and was clearly confused. They wanted to charge me a $75 visit fee per dog just to get a $20 flea medication. Absolutely ridiculous. Instead of caring about the animals, it feels like it’s all about squeezing money out of people. They know my dogs get extremely anxious during visits, and yet they still insisted on this nonsense. I walked out and ordered the same exact medication online for way cheaper. So disappointed and disgusted. After years of loyalty, this is how they treat their clients. I’ll definitely be switching vets and reporting them.
