Our 10 year old pup had a herniated disc/initial stage of IVDD, and with the first sign of him yelping and limping and being in pain, we went to the closest hospital near us. He was seen within 20-30 minutes of arrival and the urgent care doctor explained everything very thoroughly and all the options for his recovery. Our pup has been walking and back to normal since (it was a speedy recovery of 6 weeks) and we now are doing monthly acupuncture and laser treatment with Dr. Mathias, who is fabulous! I can’t recommend this hospital enough, truly care for your fur babies as your own 🥹

Went here for the first time for a potential poison exposure for our dog. The staff was very friendly and professional. The facility is clean and modern. Their communication was excellent. As we went through the process we felt that the doctor was not only very good, but did additional research to find out specific potential complications. She explained this to us very well. I would have to give a word of caution that the rooms they bring you to to discuss treatment options are monitored by cameras. While they were out of the room, I had a private conversation with my wife and upon their return they clearly seem to be addressing the concerns that she and I had discussed between ourselves. This gave me the impression that those cameras are being monitored. I did not feel it was appropriate. There is a warning sticker on the front window notifying of the video surveillance. Having said that, will you receive excellent care for your pet and although as expected, it was very expensive, we would return. I strongly recommend this facility.

Our veterinarian's recommendation to visit this 24-hour facility was indeed fortunate. Having had a terrible experience at another 24-hour establishment, which left me shaken, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome I received at Bixby. Rosa, the friendly front desk lady, greeted me warmly and helped me compose myself. She also made the waiting period less stressful. Sara, the doctor's assistant, was outstanding, answering all my questions and providing valuable suggestions as a first-time cat owner. Dr. Escobar was also excellent, and despite being extremely busy, the staff maintained a positive attitude and kept me informed about my cat's condition.

I am extremely grateful for the care my senior cat received at Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency. My kitty has multiple serious health issues — kidney disease, anemia, and ongoing nose and eye concerns — and the team here treated her with patience, compassion, and true medical expertise. From the moment we arrived, the staff was gentle, reassuring, and attentive. They took the time to listen, evaluate her symptoms carefully, and explain everything clearly. It was such a comfort during a very stressful time to know she was in capable and caring hands. Even with complex health problems, the doctors and nurses went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and supported, and they treated her as if she were their own. I truly cannot thank them enough. If you’re looking for a veterinary emergency or specialty team who is knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated, I highly recommend Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency.

Came here for urgent care last Saturday (10/12) as my 2 month puppy was having diarrhea issues for the past week. My problem is that they essentially overdosed my already sick baby puppy. (BACKSTORY) I bought my dog from a breeder a week ish prior (10/3) and took her to a local Banfield hospital to get her first dose of vaccine a few days after (10/7). She had her first shot but the vets noticed she had very explosive diarrhea so was prescribed medication to help, even changing her whole diet. We did what we were told but noticed she wasn't getting better, which by Friday (10/10) her symptoms were getting worse. She was pooping liquid diarrhea every 30min to an hour and later that day noticed a drop of blood mixed in. She was very fatigued and even lost her appetite so the next day (Saturday 10/11) we went to the banfield hospital again to see why this was happening. She was given fluids, vitamin shots and a different shot I forgot the name of. Even after everything she was not getting any better. She tested for parvo and other life threatening illnesses but all came back negative. She eventually just refused to eat and became very lethargic so I decided to take her to Bixbys for urgent care (Sunday 10/12). She started throwing up multiple times and I wanted a second opinion so my coworker recommended me this place, which I would never now. My first impression: very clean facility and great service. Although we did wait basically an hour and a half to be able to speak with the doctor, the place was very quiet and calming. The nurses did some exams and gave her fluids again to help her moving but no luck with her getting better. After dreading to talk to the doctor, she told us we have two options which was to hospitalized her for 24 hours or to give her more medications at home. We were considering hospitalizing her but felt bad for our baby taking on more shots and medications. ALSO, not to mention the cost would have been OVER $3k, so we decided on the medications. However, this is where the problem lies. The doctor considered getting her first dose of dewormers just in case there was another underlying cause to her health and just for her overall future. She told us it may take a few hours just to see how her body was going to react to the dose so we left to go back home. We get a call 2 hours later which we then went to pick her up and talked to the doctor again. Since she had been throwing up all morning, the vets gave her an anti-nausea shot after giving her first dewormers. HOWEVER, the doctor had told us that they had "accidentally" gave my baby the wrong dosage of the anti-nausea shot. She only needed 0.06 mg of the shot BUT INSTEAD GAVE HER 0.6 mg!!!! The vet explained that even though they overdosed her, it shouldn't be a life threatening situation so it should be OKAY. They told us if she was walking wonky and her head started shaking, then we need to take her back ASAP. As if I wasn't stressed enough and having a panic attack already, hearing that almost set me off. How do you accidentally overdose a puppy? I could potentially sue them for overdosing my puppy. Even with this happening, I had to pay for all the fees which costed me $550 for shots that could potentially kill my puppy. Long story short, after the next 24 hours of her being overdosed, her health started declining and passed away on Tuesday morning at 1:36 am. My poor baby started vomiting blood, refusing to eat, not being able to fully sleep and couldn't even walk as much. My friend, who is a pharmacist, mentioned that effects from an overdose wouldn't be just walking weird and being shaky but included all the symptoms she had prior to passing away that day. I don't think I could ever recommend this place after their "mistake" that they made, costing my baby's life. Rest in peace my sweet baby mocha.
